We are continuing our efforts to investigate and document every RPD officer’s history of misconduct. Come to this workshop and learn how you can contribute to this project. Whether you’ve helped out before or this is your first time, you only need basic Internet searching skills to help! We’re now doing one of these the last Tuesday of each month.

Meeting link will be sent out on Slack and the mailing list.

For background on the project:

The RPD’s recent murder of Tyshon Jones, a Black man in the middle of a mental health crisis, was carried out by Matthew Drake, an officer known for past brutality and misconduct.  We know that Matthew Drake was one of the officers involved in assaulting David Vann in 2015, and that he has several other incidents of misconduct.  We want to make sure that the brutality of Matthew Drake and others like him is publicly available for all to see.  Documenting the past misconduct of RPD officers is critical for making public RPD’s history of brutality and for holding them accountable.

There are over 700 RPD officers to research, so we need your help!  We are looking for volunteers to help us research and document these stories.  This workshop will involve a short, simple training on how to search the internet for cases of RPD misconduct and submit information for our database.  After the training, we will get into groups and start researching.
